Did You know?

Concerned neighbors all over Flower Mound are discovering the plans for the 6.6 Mile expansion of Gerault/Morriss Rd from the current 4 lanes to a major 6 lane artery for north/south traffic flow through town. The planning stages will begin in March 2009 with construction slated to begin in early 2010.

Many of us are questioning the need of such an artery extending through a predominately residential area where speeds are already excessive and numerous accidents have occurred. The safety of residents and homeowners that line Morriss Rd is in jeopardy.

Homeowners are for the most part unaware of the Go ahead on the plan that will effect a large population of our town.

This blog is designed to educate and organize the community to have the town re-evaluate the plan and to hopefully halt its progress.

  1. My house backs up to Morris across from Forest Wood middle school. What is the town thinking? Our safety, our kids safety, all to save folks a couple of minutes on a commute? Once you cross over 3040 Morris is primarily a residential road with numerous neighbours entraces. This 3 lane expansion will drasticially impact enter and exiting our communities and will end up causing more accidents than what Morris is already known for. I would like to get a banner to hang on the entrance of Forest Wood estates, who do I need to contact? Thanks

  2. 1. Six lanes passing through several school zones doesn't seem prudent.

    2. The area adjancent to Morris from 3040 to 1171 is built out. Morris does not suffer from traffic congestion. With no significant population growth possible, propspects for increased traffic is limited. What need is driving this project?

  3. Safety of the children and residents in general should be our first priority. With schools and neighborhoods all along Morris our safety would be compromised.

Traffic is not a problem on Morris. We moved to Flower Mound because of it commitment to parks and recreation and tree lined streets like Morris, making Morris a six lane road would be a big step in the wrong direction.

  4. In addition to the safety of the many public schools, church schools, and day care centers that line Morriss Rd, what happened to the Flower Mound commitment to protect our trees. With all the new trees planted in the median and the irrigation systems that were constructed to keep them alive with our tax dollars, why would we destroy that by adding lanes that will encroach on the median and the underlying utilities. Who is responsible for making decisions that impact so many people without due process?
