Help Get the Word Out

Many of you mentioned that you weren't able to attend the meeting(s) but you'd be willing to help in other ways. This is your chance!
- If you know someone in a nearby subdivision, talk to them so that they can tell their neighbors about this.
- If you know someone that has a child at Forest Wood Middle School, let them know that the Morriss Rd expansion will further complicate their drop off/pick up process. It's already backed up during these hours - just imagine 6 lanes and more cars!
- If you know anyone that is part of the LISD or PTA, talk to them. This expansion is a safety concern for children walking, riding bikes or even driving in either of the 2 school zones along Morriss Rd.
- If you go out walking the dog or getting some exercise, spread the word along the way!
This will likely have a negative impact on our property values so everyone needs to know.

We have to use a myriad of ways to communicate that this is happening and gain community support for objecting to this expansion. If you need a fact sheet, please contact us at stopmorriss6@googlemail.com and we will get some to you.

Thanks, in advance, for your support.

  1. I am a resident of Windsor Park who is very concerned about the widening of Morriss Rd. It is already difficult to get onto Morris Rd from our community the way the road is currently configured. I can't imagine what it would be like to do the same if ther road were six lanes wide. The main aspect of our moving here has been slowly eroding with each passing year!!
Please keep us updated on the next town meeting so we can attend.

  2. I agree with Victor. One of the maon reasons we moved here was that it WASN'T Plano...this used to be a slow/controlled growth city - not any more. If the town government thinks all this expansion is what we want, I think we need to send them a message that thhey are taking us in the wrong direction.

  4. We live approximately 4 blocks from Morriss in the Timber Creek subdivision and have mixed feelings about the expansion. We are generally in favor of the proposal to expand Morriss between 407 and Main. The road is obviously designed with this expansion in mind and will be needed with the addition of the planned development.

We are, however, oppossed to expanding south of Main and we support you those efforts. Have you considered a compromise?

  5. The traffic on Morriss Rd does not warrant a current expansion. It comes to a T on both ends. It is not a major thoroughfare and we never want it to be. Although Flower Mound is growing by leaps and bounds, there are certain parts that we want to keep "green" and Morriss is one part of it. To expand it to 6 lanes jeopardizes both the beauty and safety. It is already noted that several schools line this street. Children walk up and down the sidewalks. Pedestrians walk and jog. Access to the proposed River Walk can be gained via 2499 or 1171.DO NOT make this part of town an eye sore. Lets keep Flower Mound the reason why people chose to live here.
