I want to thank everyone that supported me and my campaign. It was tough for an unknown to take on a well connected, well financed opponent, but I believe I did better than anyone on the other side expected. Without the support of the Stop Morriss 6 community, it would have been a lot worse, so I truly appreciate you all coming out to vote. I want to congratulate Mike Wallace on his victory and for the civil and positive campaign he ran, he was always polite to me, even when we didn't agree on the issues.
Going forward I’m going to get even more involved with the Stop Morriss 6 crusade as well as other some other causes that are going to spring up very soon. At this point in time I don’t have any plans to run again next year. I think I can be more effective working at the grass roots level to help get the word out to the people of Flower Mound about what’s going on in their Town.
I would like to also congratulate Tom Hayden on his victory, it was well deserved. I would ask that all of us support him in his new role, it’s not going to be easy for him to go up against the machine as the lone dissenting voice. We can also hope that the vote count changes in a recount for Steve Lyda and he can join Tom on the Council and help in the fight.
So with all of that said, keep tuning in to this Blog and the Facebook page, because this fight has only just begun.
Thank you to everyone that came out yesterday to vote. Voter turnout was up over previous elections and It is because of all of you. You came out, told your neighbors and they voted. We are proud to know that supporter and all around good guy, Tom Hayden will be on the new board. Bob Butler, who walked the Morriss corridor several times, received over 1000 votes. We will get a print out tomorrow from the town that hopefully reflects this trend. Steve Lyda was narrowly defeated by Steve Dixon. We would like to congratulate Mr Dixon on his victory.
As you may have noticed, we removed our big banner at the entrance of our neighborhood. This is only to give us all a break from signs in general and does not reflect anything else. We are working to get more yard signs made in the next week or so and will keep you advised.
We encourage all of you to keep getting the word out as we prepare for the very important Transportation Committee public hearings later this month. You will be hearing a lot about that soon and will again need everyone to come support us. But for now, just a short respite after the last few weeks of constant barrage. We promise no mass emailings for at least several days, but then, stay tuned.
Thanks again to everone that came and helped at the polls and passed out flyers and made phone calls, it made the difference.
I would also like to congratulate Mike Wallace on his victory and look forward to working with him on some of the things he spoke about during the campaign.
Thank you for all your hard work. It's truly been a pleasure meeting you and your wife and I look forward to having you onboard with the StopMorris6 group.
